Security Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a Security Engineer to own the company's security posture end-to-end. You will handle extremely sensitive customer data with zero tolerance for mistakes, drafting and enforcing security best practices across the entire engineering organization. This role partners closely with infrastructure teams to build security into systems from the ground up while fostering a strong security culture through training and threat modeling.
Essential Functions
- Own security end-to-end, from policy development and implementation to enforcement company-wide
- Lock down sensitive customer data with encryption, access controls, auditing, and protection at every layer
- Draft and enforce playbooks for data handling, credentials, access management, and incident response
- Partner with infrastructure engineers to integrate security into systems from the foundation
- Build security culture via training, code reviews, and threat modeling for all engineers
- Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability management, and system hardening
- Manage AWS security configurations including security groups and networking
Required Qualifications
- 1-4 years of experience as a software engineer focused on security
- Experience at a large, mature company (Series C+) handling large volumes of sensitive data in financial, fintech, healthcare, government, or SaaS environments
- Holistic understanding of security including penetration testing, hardening, vulnerability management, and system security
- AWS security knowledge covering security groups, networking, egress, and ingress
- Familiarity with security technologies such as SAML, SSH, intrusion protection systems, penetration testing tools, and hardening frameworks like CIS and Linux hardening
- CS degree from a top-30 program
- Track record of project leadership with measurable impact for expert-level candidates
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in AWS infrastructure, system design, and architecture
- Database administration and VPN management experience
- Proficiency in TypeScript and broad technology stack exposure
- Side projects, community involvement, or demonstrated passion for security engineering
- Ambitious mindset with diverse technical experience and proactive problem-solving

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary range of $140,000 - $220,000 based on experience, plus comprehensive benefits package for a direct hire role.
