Robotics Infrastructure Engineer

Fast-growing robotics company Boston, MA Direct Hire Engineering $120,000 - $175,000

Job Summary

Own and scale the core systems that ensure robots run reliably in real-world production environments. Operate across the full stack, from low-level robot software and Linux systems to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and developer tooling. Work directly with leadership to identify bottlenecks, build solutions, and drive engineering velocity using AI coding agents for automation.

Essential Functions

  • Own and improve robot-side software and infrastructure stack, including Python-based control systems, Linux environments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure for 24/7 production reliability.
  • Work with leadership to identify engineering bottlenecks like slow deploy cycles or flaky CI, then design and roll out systems to boost velocity.
  • Build and operate AI-powered engineering automation, including agents for triaging CI failures, security checks, and multi-step debugging.
  • Debug complex issues spanning hardware, operating systems, networking, and application layers, shipping fixes quickly to production.
  • Design and build simulation, testing, and validation infrastructure like camera simulation and kinematics workflows for rapid iteration.
  • Act as a force multiplier by tackling cross-cutting problems and driving adoption across engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in robotics infrastructure or systems engineering using Python.
  • Hands-on experience with real robotics hardware such as arms and cameras.
  • Owned CI/CD pipelines and managed infrastructure as code.
  • Deep Linux systems knowledge including kernel, networking, and containers.
  • Systems-level Python programming with processes, hardware I/O, and async.
  • Comfortable with rapid iteration, minimal oversight, and managing change efficiently.
  • Must work on-site 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Directed AI coding agents for complex engineering tasks.
  • Background in quantitative fields like Math or Physics.
  • Experience with NixOS or similar reproducible build systems.
  • Active GitHub with personal projects or open-source contributions.
  • Experience with low-level programming, Nix, or QNX.
