Construction Accountant
Job Summary
Serve as the financial hub for construction projects by managing job costs, preparing owner draws, and ensuring subcontractor compliance. Create financial reports, post journal entries, support forecasting, and monitor cash flow and risks. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and field teams to review contracts and assist with audits.
Essential Functions
- Manage project job cost accounting and track job costs
- Prepare owner draws and track payments
- Handle subcontractor compliance
- Create and analyze financial reports
- Post journal entries
- Support forecasting and financial planning
- Monitor risks including notices to owners
- Manage cash flow and reporting
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or construction accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or CCIFP certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with accounting software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities
- Detail-oriented mindset
