AI Forward Deployed Engineer

We are looking for an AI Forward Deployed Engineer with 5+ years of experience to sit at the intersection of engineering and customer success at a fast-growing AI startup putting supply chains on autopilot. You'll work directly with enterprise customers to understand their complex procurement and ERP workflows, then design and build the integrations and backend systems that bring the company's AI agents to life in production. What will you be doing? Work directly with customers to understand end-to-end procurement, ERP, and operational workflows, then translate them into scalable technical solutions. Design and build integrations with enterprise systems like NetSuite, SAP, and Microsoft Business Central via APIs and data pipelines. Build backend services, workflow automations, and customer-specific solutions using Python/Django. Partner with Product and Engineering to identify repeatable patterns that feed back into the core platform. Support customer discovery, deployment planning, and occasional on-site technical workshops (~1-2x/month). The role involves substantial client interaction alongside coding. Ideal candidates have shipped production code into customer environments as full-stack generalists (including deployment and infrastructure), built greenfield solutions or custom workflows from scratch, and independently scoped requirements from stakeholders. Daily use of AI coding tools is expected; experience building agents or shipping AI features is a plus.

- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise (forward deployed or full-stack with backend focus) - Proficiency in Python and/or Django (or comparable backend technologies); TypeScript or Rust also valued - Hands-on experience building integrations with external APIs, enterprise software, or data pipelines - Experience working directly with customers or cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions - Strong systems-thinking mindset: able to question requirements, challenge assumptions, and design scalable architectures in ambiguous environments - Strong CS fundamentals, system design, and understanding of trade-offs between databases and languages - Shipped production code into a customer environment, including deployment and infrastructure - Built greenfield solutions or custom workflows from scratch for customers - Background at a tier 1/2 tech company or recognizable high-growth startup preferred; experience in both big tech and startup environments is ideal - Strong communication skills and ability to solve customer problems - Uses AI coding tools daily; ideally has built agents or shipped AI features in production or side projects
