Engineering Manager, Object Storage
Job Summary
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead a new team focused on creating a greenfield object storage product. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with product thinking to design and deliver a scalable, reliable storage system that developers will love.
You will drive the technical direction for stateful distributed services while partnering closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to turn customer needs into shipped features at a platform trusted by millions of developers worldwide.
Essential Functions
- Build and lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, developing, and launching the object storage product from the ground up
- Drive technical direction and system design decisions, navigating architectural tradeoffs for stateful, distributed services
- Partner with Product, Design, and Infrastructure teams to translate customer needs into a clear roadmap and deliver high-impact features
- Mentor and develop engineers through hiring, regular feedback, and performance management
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and high-quality delivery while balancing velocity with reliability
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience shipping production systems, including stateful services or distributed systems
- 2+ years of people management experience, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management
- Strong technical depth with the ability to engage in system design, architecture discussions, and engineering tradeoffs
- Product-oriented mindset with proven experience translating business goals and user needs into technical roadmaps
- Player-coach approach with a track record of both managing people and writing code
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building products for developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, DevTools, or highly scalable distributed systems
- Background working on object storage, block storage, or similar large-scale data infrastructure
- Familiarity with the challenges of operating stateful services in cloud environments

Education & Certifications

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range of $204,000 to $289,000 plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Exact offer will be based on experience, skills, and location.
