Design Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a Design Engineer with 1+ years of experience to build the user interface for the platform powering the AI agents of the future. This role focuses on creating exceptional, pixel-perfect interfaces that simplify complex AI agent workflows. You will join a small, high-impact YC-backed team where your work on frontend architecture and user experience will directly shape the infrastructure layer for an agent-native economy.
Essential Functions
- Designing and building the core UI for the MCP gateway and Agents SDK platform using React, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks
- Crafting pixel-perfect, responsive, and accessible interfaces with exceptional attention to motion, animation, and interaction design
- Optimizing frontend performance by focusing on core web vitals, bundling strategies, and loading states
- Making key technical decisions around React Server Components, streaming, styling approaches, and overall frontend architecture
- Collaborating closely with the engineering team to ship production-ready features that make complex AI agent workflows feel simple and delightful
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in frontend or design engineering
- Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript
- Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality, production-ready user interfaces
- Deep understanding of web technologies, frameworks, rendering models, and performance optimization
- High agency with the ability to work independently and make technical decisions
- Strong opinions on user experience details, motion design, and interaction patterns
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Next.js, Remix, or similar modern web frameworks
- Background in 3D web technologies or complex data visualization
- Prior work in AI, developer tools, or infrastructure platforms
- Interest in low-level systems or agentic AI applications

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range of $170,000 to $230,000 plus competitive equity. Visa sponsorship available including transfers and new applications. Full-time on-site position in San Francisco with remote considered case-by-case for exceptional applicants.
