Forward Deployed Engineer
Job Summary
This Forward Deployed Engineer role sits at the intersection of engineering, customer success, and business impact within a fast-paced healthcare technology environment. You will work directly with healthcare providers to design, build, and deploy software solutions that solve complex technical challenges and improve real-world clinical workflows. This customer-obsessed position offers variety, from writing production code to translating client pain points into shipped features on-site.
Essential Functions
- Design and implement technical solutions in the core product that align closely with client needs, including fixing critical bugs and shipping high-impact features
- Partner directly with customers to build strong relationships with users, subject-matter experts, and executives
- Translate ambiguous customer problem statements into clear requirements, implementation specifications, and realistic delivery timelines
- Support engineering efforts for launching new customer practices, including integrations, custom workflows, and real-time deployments based on client feedback
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams to deliver seamless solutions and incorporate customer insights into the product roadmap
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a preference for full-stack or backend focus (6+ years considered with strong trajectory)
- Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Python, TypeScript or Go
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
- Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Prior experience in a customer-facing or forward-deployed engineering role
- Must be currently based in New York City with ability to work on-site
- US citizen, green card holder, or valid TN/E3 visa status
- Clear upward career trajectory with promotions and impact at reputable, fast-paced organizations
