Member of Technical Staff, Forward Deployed
Job Summary
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team as a versatile generalist who bridges our core platform with the evolving needs of frontier AI lab customers. In this role, you will rapidly respond to ad hoc requests by shaping specialized data, building custom features, creating reinforcement learning tasks, and deploying customer-facing tools on tight timelines. This position is critical in advancing post-training and agent research at the forefront of AI development.
Essential Functions
- Shape data created by human experts to meet specific requirements of frontier AI lab customers
- Build quick plugins, features, or temporary improvements to support data collection needs
- Handcraft reinforcement learning task samples tailored to individual customer specifications
- Rapidly develop customer-facing interfaces such as dashboards and portals
- Identify opportunities to generalize one-off custom solutions into the core platform
- Translate customer feedback into fast technical implementations including custom features and data workflows
- Collaborate directly with customers to iterate and refine solutions based on real-time needs
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of full-stack software engineering experience in fast-paced environments
- Proven track record of shipping production software at a high-growth, VC-backed company
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python as a full-stack generalist covering backend services, data pipelines, and frontend interfaces
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week in the Manhattan office
- Experience translating customer needs into rapid technical solutions such as custom features, integrations, dashboards, or data workflows
- BS in Computer Science or related STEM field from a top-tier program
- Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to iterate quickly based on feedback
Preferred Qualifications
- Background that combines experience at big tech companies followed by a high-growth startup
- Experience founding or working at a VC-backed startup for 18+ months
- Familiarity with evals, task design, or LLM-judged scoring
- Experience building scalable systems and customer-focused features in dynamic settings

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranging from $200,000 to $280,000 depending on experience, plus equity and comprehensive benefits package.
