Chief of Staff
Job Summary
We are seeking a Chief of Staff to partner directly with the founders at an early-stage AI safety startup. This high-agency role focuses on unblocking the team, driving strategic initiatives, and supporting operations in a fast-moving cybersecurity research lab that recently secured significant venture funding.
You will manage customer communications, compliance projects, market research, and external representation while proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks across the organization.
Essential Functions
- Manage customer communications, contract negotiations, and legal coordination on behalf of the founders
- Drive compliance initiatives such as SOC2, maintaining all evidence and processes
- Conduct market research, develop strategic documents, and support sales outreach
- Represent the company at industry conferences and with external partners
- Proactively identify operational bottlenecks and unblock the team in operations, finance, and business development
- Build broad context across technical, commercial, and strategic areas of the business
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in consulting, finance, or high-growth startup operations
- Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and solve problems with minimal direction
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week
- Valid US work authorization

- Background in cybersecurity, AI, or related technical fields
- Prior exposure to compliance frameworks and contract management

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range of $150,000 to $250,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus meaningful equity in a well-funded startup. Benefits include health coverage, professional development support, and a collaborative office environment in San Francisco.
