CAD / Geometry Engineer

fast-scaling AI startup San Francisco, CA Direct Hire $220,000 - $300,000

Job Summary

We are seeking a CAD Geometry Engineer to develop high-performance geometry and data pipelines that support next-generation CAD foundation models. This role sits at the intersection of computational geometry, CAD kernel development, and AI research, where you will help advance structured 3D parametric CAD systems. You will collaborate closely with research teams to shape data representations and model architecture for cutting-edge generative models.

Essential Functions

  • Build high-performance geometry pipelines for ingesting CAD data across multiple file formats
  • Extract, convert, and transform B-rep geometry, feature trees, and parametric data into universal representations suitable for machine learning
  • Work directly within CAD kernels to extract, manipulate, and reason about solid geometry programmatically
  • Collaborate with research teams on data representation, model architecture, and design decisions
  • Develop automated systems for extraction, encoding, reconstruction, and verification across the full data pipeline
  • Lead data collection and curation initiatives based on level of experience

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in computational geometry or CAD kernel engineering
  • Strong expertise in computational geometry with B-reps and parametric geometry
  • Hands-on experience with at least one CAD or geometry kernel such as Parasolid, ACIS, or OpenCASCADE
  • Deep understanding of NURBS and solid modeling fundamentals
  • Proficiency in C++ or Python for geometry processing applications
  • PhD in computational geometry, physics, mathematics, or computer science

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain experience in design and manufacturing, aerospace, or robotics
  • Previous startup environment experience
  • Background in AI/ML applications for geometry or CAD systems
  • Experience building data pipelines for machine learning consumption
