Job Summary

The In-Process Quality Inspector plays a critical role in electronics manufacturing by performing detailed inspections during SMT, wave soldering, and selective soldering operations. This position ensures that all products and processes meet strict IPC standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements before advancing through production. By identifying and addressing issues early, the inspector helps maintain high product integrity and supports overall manufacturing efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Perform in-process inspections of electronic assemblies during SMT, wave soldering, and selective soldering operations
  • Inspect products for compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-600, and customer-specific requirements
  • Verify production processes follow established work instructions, procedures, and documentation controls
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using precision tools to confirm workmanship and specification conformance
  • Inspect incoming materials, perform measurements, and reject non-conforming items through the ERP system
  • Document all inspection results accurately in reports, logs, and digital systems
  • Identify non-conformances, initiate rework when needed, and verify rework meets required standards
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues promptly and stop processes if necessary to prevent defects from advancing

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
  • Working knowledge of J-STD-001 requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with proven ability to identify defects and process deviations
  • Basic computer skills and experience documenting results accurately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or quality inspection

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC-600, IPC-A-610, or J-STD-001 certifications
  • Experience with precision measuring tools including calipers, pin gauges, height gauges, and similar equipment
  • Familiarity with automated inspection systems such as SmartScope or CMM
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience working in an ISO or formal Quality Management System environment
