Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design and own critical power systems and electronics boards for high-performance flight vehicles. This hands-on role allows you to personally drive hardware from initial concept through bring-up, validation, and production integration within a small, elite avionics team. You will define requirements, architect power solutions, and deliver meaningful subsystems that directly impact mission success in a fast-paced environment where individual ownership is paramount.
Essential Functions
- Design power electronics PCBAs including motor controllers, DC-DC converters, inverters, power switches, and power distribution systems
- Own the full hardware lifecycle from schematic capture through bring-up, debug, validation, and production integration
- Define power system requirements and architect overall power architecture in a system-level context
- Develop high voltage and high current solutions for actuators, power filtering, and power bus sizing
- Support both flight vehicle power electronics and related ground systems hardware as needed
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 15 years of hands-on experience designing power electronics hardware such as motor controllers, DC-DC converters, or power distribution boards
- Proven track record taking power electronics PCBAs from design through bring-up, debug, and validation
- Experience in fast-paced, high-ownership environments such as aerospace startups, automotive, or robotics companies
- Strong background in flight hardware or high-reliability systems
- Proficiency with PCB design tools, particularly Altium
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
