Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to independently manage procurement for inventory and non-inventory materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on analyzing demand through MRP, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring uninterrupted material flow, and driving cost reduction initiatives. The position plays a critical part in optimizing inventory turns while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting overall operational efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Independently analyzes demand, determines order quantities, and negotiates purchases of inventory materials up to $25,000 per MRP guidelines.
- Places purchase orders for both inventory and non-inventory items while following up to ensure timely delivery and adequate supply.
- Maintains uninterrupted material availability while maximizing inventory turns and minimizing obsolescence.
- Resolves supplier quality and delivery issues in a timely manner.
- Sources new items and qualifies potential suppliers from existing and new networks.
- Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiation, and design improvements.
- Evaluates supplier performance and provides feedback focused on lead time, on-time delivery, cost, terms, and quality.
- Builds and maintains long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure preferred customer status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three or more years of relevant procurement experience utilizing MRP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage company-wide supplier relationships and commodity responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, procurement procedures, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to conduct studies and present recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- NAPM or APICS certification.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment managing inventory accuracy and obsolescence.
- Background in negotiating contracts and achieving measurable cost savings.

Education & Certifications

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, and retirement plan options.
