Engineering Manager, Electronics
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, Electronics to lead the team developing custom electronic hardware for a commercial microreactor control system. This hands-on technical leadership role focuses on electronics architecture, mixed-signal PCB development, and building a high-performing team of electrical engineers. You will guide hardware from requirements through qualification while collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver reliable reactor-control electronics.
Essential Functions
- Build, manage, and develop a team of electrical engineers, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and resource planning
- Own the electronics architecture for reactor control systems, with potential future applications in space-reactor designs
- Lead analog and mixed-signal PCB development from requirements and schematic capture through manufacturing, bring-up, qualification, and field operation
- Define requirements for electrical noise, accuracy, input range, environmental performance, interfaces, reliability, and thermal constraints
- Guide the design of low-noise analog front ends, sensor interfaces, high-speed data conversion, digital communications, and signal-processing hardware
- Own acceptance and qualification testing for in-house PCB designs, ensuring hardware meets overall system requirements
- Drive failure analysis, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous design improvements
- Partner with controls, embedded software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to integrate electronics across the reactor platform
- Lead design reviews and effectively communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, and risks to engineering leadership and executives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field
- 10-18 years of experience in electrical engineering, including 5+ years directly managing engineering teams
- Hands-on ownership of analog and mixed-signal hardware, PCB development, testing, and full lifecycle deployment
- Proven experience managing and developing electrical engineers, including hiring and performance management
- Background in space, avionics, or flight computer hardware
- Expertise in mixed-signal PCB design, including low-noise analog front ends, high-speed data conversion, and EMI/EMC mitigation
- Experience with industrial signal types such as 4-20mA, RTDs, thermocouples, resolvers, and digital interfaces including SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with radiation-hardened circuit design or nuclear instrumentation
- Familiarity with environmental and reliability qualification processes for mission-critical hardware
- Previous work on reactor control systems or similar high-reliability applications
- Demonstrated ability to establish engineering standards and qualification strategies for electronics teams

Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range of $209000 to $284000, depending on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package offered.
