Mechanical Quality Inspector
Job Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to ensure the quality and reliability of mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished assemblies in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment. This role supports quality initiatives across precision metal enclosures to large-scale industrial modular structures. The position requires strong experience in metal fabrication manufacturing and quality inspection with the ability to identify quality issues, interpret technical drawings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Essential Functions
- Perform inspections of mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and internal quality standards
- Conduct audits of metal forming, fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, specifications, and quality requirements
- Identify and document material non-conformances during receiving, work-in-process, and final inspections
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Safety teams to improve product designs and manufacturing processes
- Verify products meet applicable regulatory requirements, customer specifications, engineering standards, and company procedures
- Support the inspection equipment calibration program by ensuring tools are properly maintained and calibrated
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of five years of experience in metal fabrication manufacturing and/or quality inspection
- Strong understanding of materials used in metal component and structural fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modular building construction, industrial metal structures, or electrical enclosure manufacturing
- Familiarity with scheduling or manufacturing software systems
