Senior Powertrain Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a Senior Powertrain Engineer with 3+ years of experience to own the design, integration, and improvement of high voltage drivetrain systems with a primary focus on electric motors. This hands-on role involves working across the full product lifecycle from concept through production in a fast-moving hardware team environment.
Essential Functions
- Own the design and development of HV drivetrain systems, with primary focus on electric motors, inverters, and motor control strategies
- Select, characterize, and qualify motors and inverters for traction and auxiliary applications, including supplier evaluation and bring-up
- Perform hands-on work with drivetrain hardware including designing, building, and integrating systems
- Drive safety case development and validation for drivetrain and HV components, ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 and relevant HV safety standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to deliver a reliable, high-performance drivetrain
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 12 years of experience in electric motor systems, inverters, and drivetrain engineering
- Electric motor and drivetrain design experience at an EV company
- Experience taking HV drivetrain hardware from concept through production
- Startup or small-team environment experience
- Hands-on expertise with PMSM, BLDC, or induction motors and inverter hardware
- HV power electronics experience including DC/DC converters, motor drives, and SiC/IGBT
- Motor control theory knowledge including torque/speed control and encoder feedback
Preferred Qualifications
- Cross-functional collaboration experience across firmware, thermal, and manufacturing teams
- Experience with supplier evaluation and component qualification processes

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $170,000 to $220,000
