Controller
Job Summary
This Controller role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader ready to build the finance function from the ground up at a growing hardware company. You will manage day-to-day accounting tasks while establishing scalable processes ahead of first product sales and future mass production. This is a senior individual contributor position with a clear path to lead a larger team as the organization expands.
Essential Functions
- Lead the selection and implementation of an ERP system, partnering with internal technical resources to define requirements and manage the project
- Develop inventory and cost accounting processes to accurately determine product COGS ahead of initial prototype sales
- Transition accounting operations in-house and establish a formal month-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Prepare the organization for its first external financial audit and ensure full GAAP compliance across all accounting functions
- Hire and manage a junior accountant while building the foundation for future team growth as the company scales
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA license required
- 7 to 12 years of progressive accounting experience
- Hands-on inventory and cost accounting experience in a hardware, manufacturing, or physical goods environment
- Experience leading or co-leading an ERP system implementation
- Strong U.S. GAAP expertise
- Comfortable working as a senior individual contributor while building toward team leadership responsibilities
- Willingness to work on-site five days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Big 4 or top-tier audit firm background
- Experience building or scaling an accounting function from the ground up in a high-growth environment
- Background in assistant controller or similar senior accounting roles
- Familiarity with AI tools for process automation

Education & Certifications

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range of $230,000 to $270,000. Additional details available during the interview process.
