Senior Application Scientist
Job Summary
This role leads the development and commercialization of glass fiber reinforced composites, serving as the technical authority on fiber technology, coupling chemistry, and thermoset resin formulation. The position bridges customer requirements with internal R&D and manufacturing teams to deliver scalable, high-performance composite solutions.
Essential Functions
- Lead design and optimization of fiberglass composite systems across multiple resin platforms
- Engineer fiber-matrix interfaces to enhance performance and durability
- Support and optimize composite manufacturing processes across open and closed molding technologies
- Scale laboratory formulations into reliable, production-ready solutions
- Design and execute mechanical, thermal, rheological, chemical, and durability testing
- Act as the primary technical interface with customers on composite processing and performance optimization
- Collaborate with glass fiber, sizing, coupling agent, and raw material suppliers on joint development initiatives
- Identify innovation opportunities aligned with market needs and manufacturing capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 8 to 10 plus years of experience in fiberglass-reinforced composites R&D, applications, or manufacturing environments
- Deep expertise in glass fiber reinforcements, fiber sizing chemistry, coupling agents, and fiber-matrix interface science
- Strong working knowledge of thermoset composite systems and high-volume manufacturing processes
- Proven experience translating materials science into commercially viable, scalable products
- Demonstrated success in customer-facing technical roles
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer and manufacturing facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related discipline
- Experience in fiberglass reinforcement manufacturing or major composite producers
- Background in glass sizing development and surface treatment technologies
- Experience supporting structural and corrosion-resistant applications

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range of $90,000 to $170,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
