Forward Deployed Engineer
Job Summary
Lead the discovery, architecture, and implementation of customer deployments for a production-grade platform that extracts data from complex enterprise documents like PDFs, spreadsheets, and images. Own integrations, performance, reliability, and security in VPC and on-prem environments while collaborating directly with customer teams. Drive usage tracking, SLAs, accuracy improvements, and expansion opportunities in a customer-facing engineering role.
Essential Functions
- Lead discovery, architecture, and implementation for VPC and on-prem rollouts
- Build integrations with cloud storage, data warehouses, streaming platforms, and internal tools
- Own performance, reliability, and security for single-tenant environments
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and runbooks
- Write documentation and train customer teams
- Track usage, SLAs, and accuracy, and drive expansion
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer
- Shipped product end-to-end to real users at a Series A or later startup, or held Forward Deployed Engineer title
- Worked at a company with strong customer-facing engineering culture
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
- Built or maintained enterprise-grade systems with security and compliance requirements
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed (about 15%)
- Active GitHub profile showing personal or open source projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Startup experience, ideally Series A-C, with strong product and user focus
- Customer-facing experience in a technical role
- Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code tools, and hyperscaler environments
- Strong enterprise-level experience with clean code and testing practices

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary range of $150,000 - $220,000 based on experience, plus comprehensive benefits package.
